Recommendations to Prevent Risks in Outdoor Spaces During Summer
Summer is the perfect time to enjoy balconies, terraces and patios, but it is important to use these outdoor spaces responsibly to ensure the safety of everyone in the community.
The Barcelona-Lleida Association of Property Administrators reminds us of some basic recommendations regarding the use of inflatable pools and barbecues in residential properties.
When using inflatable pools, it is important to remember that residential buildings are designed to support a maximum live load of 200 kg/m². For this reason, exceeding approximately 20 cm of water depth may pose a significant structural risk, particularly on balconies and terraces.
Regarding barbecues, current regulations state that smoke outlets must be located 1.5 metres above the highest point of the building and maintain a minimum distance of 10 metres from neighbouring façades, helping to prevent nuisance and reduce the risk of fire.
