Thieves take advantage of prolonged absences, but the good news is that <strong>there are simple and very effective measures to reduce the risk<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Following the recommendations of the <strong>Mossos d\u2019Esquadra<\/strong> and local police forces, we have compiled the main safety tips so you can go away (or stay) with greater peace of mind.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>If you go on vacation<\/h3>\n<p>Before leaving home, take a few minutes to prepare it:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Make sure <strong>doors and windows<\/strong> are properly closed and activate the alarm if you have one.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Do not leave valuables in plain sight and store them in safe places.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Notify <strong>someone you trust<\/strong> to collect the mail and occasionally check on the property.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Avoid leaving <strong>obvious signs of absence<\/strong>: fully closed shutters, full mailboxes, or answering machines with messages indicating you are away.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Be discreet: <strong>do not tell strangers that you are leaving or post it on social media<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Never hide keys in outdoor spaces (flower pots, mailboxes, doormats\u2026).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is highly recommended to keep an <strong>inventory of valuable items<\/strong> (with photographs, brand, model, and serial number).
